Weight Loss
Tuesday morning - 1 week of Atkins - Weight=92.4kg (203.7lbs)
Submitted by Jon on Tue, 15/04/2008 - 6:57amI decided to weigh myself again today, and have lost another 100 grams (0.2204 pounds) since Saturday. Not such good progress. But I am feeling fitter. Really need to aim to lose a few pounds a week, so 1 pound every 2-3 days. Although I did fall off the Atkins Wagon again, I had some sauce with my chicken that I should have scrapped off! Naughty me. Aim to get Lipolysis started again by tomorrow!

London Marathon Day + Weight Training for me
Submitted by Jon on Sun, 13/04/2008 - 5:48pm
Today is the 2008 London Marathon. I watched some of the footage on the tele, and as usual I felt very humbles by the amazing fitness and the effort that people put into running a marathon.
Amongst this years runners were six Maasai warriors (picture below), and a 101-year-old man. The Masai warriors are reported to have commented on how cold it was. Other than that, they seemed at ease with the marathon itself. According to BBC News, the leader of the group anticipated his group, who aim to raise money for clean water for their home village in Tanzania, would cross the finish line after four hours, slowed down by their plans to sing and dance along the route.

Week 8: Saturday Morning, Failure and Success! Weight=92.5kg (203.9lbs)
Submitted by Jon on Sat, 12/04/2008 - 10:10amToday is my first day at home since starting the Atkins diet. I woke up plannin to eat a huge pile of scrambled egg with grated cheddar cheese, but we were out of eggs. So I broke my diet big time. I had a tuna mayonnaise SANDWICH for breakfast. Yes, two thick slices of high GI, GI carb, highly insulin inducing bread. Also had a cup of tea.
Anyway, I decided that it was time for another weigh in. I should have weighed myself before breakfast. I got on the scales, and at first I thought that the scales were wrong, so I repositioned them, and tried again, with the same result. 92.5kg (203.9 pounds). I have lost another 1.5kg this week. That is about 3 pounds!
Well done me.

Week 8 of the Motley Health Fitness and Weight Loss Plan
Submitted by Jon on Fri, 11/04/2008 - 11:36pm
Also day four of the Atkins Diet. Well, to start with, last night I eventually got around to getting my photo taken. So here you can see what a state I have got myself into. I have a lot of fat to shift, and a lot of work to do!
Today I started with 3 fried eggs, 2 sausages, 3 rashers of bacon, and some black pudding. The sausages and black pudding are not really allowed, but hey.

Week 7 of the Motley Health Weight Loss Plan? Weight=94kg (207 lbs)
Submitted by Jon on Wed, 09/04/2008 - 11:15pmWell, day two of the Atkins Diet.
Breakfast: 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, 3 eggs.
Lunch: Grilled salmon with vegetables and mostly green salad. A few sweet potato pieces and some beetroot.
Supper: Tuna mayonaisse and a few pieces of chedder.
This afternoon I really wanted a snack, so I went to my staff canteen in search of a low carb snack, but there was nothing there, so I just went without! Willpower was victorious!
This evening I did an hour of kung-fu, good class.

I am now on the Atkins diet.
Submitted by Jon on Tue, 08/04/2008 - 8:43pmI am now on the Atkins diets. Although I may veer off it a little. I have just got over yet another cold, and missed another week and a half of exercise. As it is now Spring, and I want to get fit for the summer, I need to take more drastic action. So it is time for a diet. Or, more precisely, the Atkins Nutritional Approach.
I have purchased the book, and started reading it today. But it was while walking to work this morning that I decided to start the diet. The Atkins diet is not too dissimilar to the diet that I adopted a few years ago, where I ate less carbs, none after pm. It is also similar to some parts of the Bruce Lee Diet. Refined flour / white flour / sugars are all out completely. No empty calories as Bruce Lee used to say.
Basic rules that apply to me:
NO BREAD

Week 5 - Minor Throat infection slowed the pace
Submitted by Jon on Mon, 24/03/2008 - 5:41pmNow on week 5 of my plan. Time is flying, and results are hard showing. Last night I managed a weight training session, but feeling tired again today. On Saturday my son was diagnosed with a throat infection, and I have been suffering a little too. So last week I only trained once, on Monday's kung-fu lesson. So far this week I have done one weight training session. Not looking good.
Need to increase activity, I know what I have to do to get fit, now I just need to do it. And fight off my latest cold at the same time!

It's Week 3 Already!
Submitted by Jon on Fri, 07/03/2008 - 9:46pmI am already on week 3 of my 17 week health and fitness plan. I have done very little in the last week. Two reasonably intensive kung-fu classes, on Monday and Wednesday, and I have just done a weight training session this evening.
In kung-fu we are doing much more sparring than previously, which is much better cardio exercise than the usual classes. All light contact sparring, but plenty of 2 on 1 sparring, on feet and on floor, and even sparring on one leg once too. Although that night I was so exhausted by this point I could not fight a full round. 2 on 1 was fun though. I think that I did well, but I was up against relative newcomers.
This evenings training session:

Week 2 of the Motley Health 17 Week Fitness Program
Submitted by Jon on Fri, 29/02/2008 - 12:23amToday is the start of week 2. I had a funny day at work. For lunch I just ate a egg mayo sandwich on granary bread, and then later went out for a coffee. But by the time I got to the coffee shop I was feeling a bit dizzy and light headed, so I grabbed a few things to eat (cookie and chocolate) then when I got back to the office I bought a sandwich. This stopped the light headed feeling. Annoyed that I ate more though. Anyway, this evening I did what has become my new weight training session, ie;

Week 1 of the Motley Health 17 Week Fitness Program
Submitted by Jon on Tue, 26/02/2008 - 11:57pmLast night I only managed to get along to the kung-fu class, but for me it was an intensive lesson. Lots of conditioning followed by light sparring style training, which mean I got out of breath. Felt a bit giddy by the end of the lesson, and developed a headache, which made driving home difficult, but it was a good session.
Missed out on my weight training this evening, as I decided to watch a film instead with my wife. Was hoping to train after the film, but now too late! Martial arts again tomorrow, hopefully more weight training on Thursday. Not weighed myself, must remember to weigh in at the end of the week.
